Sankashti Chaturthi dates, 2030

Sankashti Chaturthi falls on Chaturthi, the fourth tithi of the Krishna (waning) fortnight, every lunar month. It is dedicated to Ganesha as the remover of obstacles (sankata), and is especially widely kept in Maharashtra and among Ganesha devotees abroad.

The fast is traditionally kept through the day and broken after sighting the moon, which on this tithi rises late in the evening. When it falls on a Tuesday it is called Angaraki Sankashti and is considered especially auspicious.

Anyone pregnant, diabetic, on medication or otherwise unsure should treat the fast as a lighter-eating day rather than a full fast, which the tradition also allows.

How the date is decided here: the local day on which the Krishna Chaturthi tithi is in force at sunrise. Many households instead follow the day on which Chaturthi holds at moonrise, so a local temple may differ by a day.
