Kalashtami dates, 2030

Kalashtami (Kala Ashtami) is the Ashtami of the Krishna fortnight, dedicated to Kala Bhairava, the fierce form of Shiva associated with time. The one in Margashirsha is Kala Bhairava Jayanti.

The same tithi in the month of Bhadrapada (purnimanta Shravana) is Krishna Janmashtami, the birth of Krishna — one tithi carrying two traditions.

How the date is decided here: the local day on which the Krishna Ashtami tithi is in force at sunrise. Bhairava worship is often done at night, so some calendars use the night-time tithi instead.
