Purnima (full moon) dates, 2028

Purnima is the fifteenth tithi of the waxing fortnight — the lunar day that contains the full moon. Several major observances fall on it, including Guru Purnima, Buddha Purnima and Kartik Purnima.

The tradition treats the full moon as a favourable time for meditation and devotional practice. Modern sleep research has found small, inconsistent effects of the lunar cycle on sleep; any effect is modest, so treat the full moon as a rhythm for practice rather than a physiological event.

How the date is decided here: the local day on which the Purnima tithi is in force at sunrise. The exact full-moon instant is also shown, because many people observe the evening the moon is fullest.
